Bumping into errors when you are running a software is irritatingly irritating, particularly when those errors prevent you from moving forward, delaying your job and making you work extra hour(s) at the end of the day. How we wish we could have completely error-free software, but let’s face it; we are living in a world where there are many Bill Gates-type CEOs around – seems like errors do come packaged with every product.
For example, last week when I was having a good time watching a genuine decent DVD, an error message popped up asking me to refer to a website which apparently has no solution to the audio problem it created. My point is, who wants errors in their life? There’s no way to escape, even entertainment gadgets have them.
When operating TCMS V2, you need to pay attention to NOT do a few things that could cause error messages and ruin your mood for the entire day. Let’s walk through 5 common things that could cause errors in the TCMS V2 software.
One: Closing the TCMS V2 software during the uploading or downloading process. This tip might seem like it’s coming from Captain Obvious but let me tell you, many people have no patience, and when things do not go at their expected speed, “close” seems like the best option at hand. No, it’s NOT! Refrain yourself from closing the software when it’s uploading or downloading. Instead, kill time by getting a drink or visiting the loo.
Two: Not adding TCMS V2 as a trusted application before enabling the antivirus. This is like asking your family members to stay outside your house before you lock the door from the inside. Got it?
Three: More than one user running the software (for configuration or editing) from different PCs at the same time. While viewing by multiple users is possible, don’t let many hands operate the software at one time. If we don’t like to deal with many people at one time, TCMS V2 behaves the same way. One. At. A. Time.
Four: Mistakes in software configuration. Learn about each feature properly before configuring it to suit your company’s requirements. Improper configuration could result in errors and you definitely don’t want that to happen. Get advise from support@fingertec.com if you are uncertain. We won’t charge you. Promise!
Five: Software Bugs. Forgive us, but bugs do occur every now and then. As much as we don’t want them, sometimes we need to deal with these bugs although they complicate your life with error messages.
Now that you have already learned the causes, let’s learn how to fix them! Keep them handy in case these errors sneak into your life.
Fix One: Turn off the PC antivirus and re-install the software
i - Turn off the PC antivirus.
ii - Uninstall the TCMS V2 software.
iii - Download the latest setup file here.
iv - Install the latest setup file at the existing TCMS V2 folder.
v - Check whether you are still receiving the error message.
vi - If there are no pop-up error messages, add the TCMS V2 software as a trusted application in the antivirus before enabling the antivirus again.
Fix Two: Delete all .CDX file in the TCMSv2 folder
i - Close the TCMS V2 software.
ii - Delete all .CDX file in the TCMSv2 folder as shown below. By default the .CDX file is located at C > Program files > FingerTec Worldwide > TCMSv2.
iii - Open the TCMS V2 software and check whether you are still getting the error message.

Please do not share the software in network because TCMS is only design for single PC application. Sharing software for multiple users can cause the database corrupted. DeletePlease generate the attendance sheet for all user from 1 January 2014 until 30 June 2014 and then check whether the problem still appear or not. Most of the TCMSv2 report is based on the attendance sheet.

Hi Andrew. Regarding your query, kindly refer to the following 5 digit password for TCMS.V2 software.

Kindly be reminded that, this password can only be used once, while the 5 digit code is “30930”, and after you logged in using this password, please change your software password at, TCMS V2 Software> system setting> Change password. DeleteRegarding your query, that temporary password (34920) is one time only for 30930, please send us with the latest random number generated by your TCMSv2 again. Kindly close your TCMSv2 and provide us with a new random number once you relaunch it.

DeleteReferring to the error message, we suspect there is a problem on the database file. To fix it, please reinstall your TCMSv2 software by follow below step.
1- Turn off the PC anti-virus and firewall.
2- Un-install the TCMSv2 software without removing the existing TCMSv2 folder.
3- Download latest TCMSv2 setup at http://www.fingertec.com/download/FingerTecTCMSv2Setup.zip
4- Install the latest setup file at existing TCMSv2 folder.
5- Then right click at the TCMSv2 icon, select run as administrator to open the TCMSv2 software.
6- Check whether still getting the error message or not.

Deletei already done some troubleshooting with the device, but still wont connect the ta100 to the tcms. i think the lan port is damaged cause i cant ping the device, although the arp cache appear on my router.

DeleteYou can refer below step to check the device connection :
1) Please reset your terminal to default factory setting by following these steps :
color screen reader : press terminal menu > system > reset > reset all default setting > restart terminal.
black & white reader : press terminal menu > option > system option > advanced option > reset option > restart terminal.
2) Resetting the terminal will cause all your settings to return to the original factory settings.
After that, please configure the terminal to the previous ip address. To change the ip address :
color screen reader : press terminal menu > comm > network > ip address.
black & white reader : press terminal menu > option > comm option > ip address
3) After done change the ip address, go to the computer > open command prompt > ping the ip address. If get reply, please use the device info tool to read the terminal information.
4) Please download the device info tools from the link below and follow the step.

Please save the tool to your PC with TCMSv2 installed and do the followings:
a - Unzip to get DevInfo.exe
b - Double click to run the tool.
c - Insert the IP address of your device into the IP column.
d - Click Connect.
e - Tool reads into device and display the information.
f - You can check your device details as Serial Number, firmware version, Product etc.
5) If the device info can read the terminal information, that's mean there have a connection between the computer and the terminal. If not, please check your network setting.
6) If no problem with you network settings, you can directly contact to your reseller and test change the MCU board.

after reset the admin privilege, i finally can login to the device. strangely after i changed the ip address of the device, i can ping the new ip. that just great, solving two problem with one stone :)
